The historic district of Panama City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Panama City has for years boasted some of the cleanest, best-tasting water in the world

We spent most of our day in the historic old town section

We found that the shopping in Panama City had the best value of any city we've visited

 

We wanted to spend more time in this city

 

We had visited the city back six years ago in 2001.

Panama City, population 708,738 is the capital of Panama

 

The ruins of the old city still remain and are a popular tourist attraction known as (Old Panama).

 

Construction of the canal was one of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken

 

The canal consists of 17 artificial lakes, several improved and artificial channels, and two sets of locks

 

The canal's efficiency appears to be improving under Panamanian control

 

The rate of accidents is at a record low
