Bagram Airbase played a key role during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan from 1980 to 1989

Kabul is over 3,000 years old. Many empires long fought over the city

 

Since 1978, a state of nearly continuous war has limited the economic productivity of the city.

 

Kabul is currently in the process of being rebuilt following decades of wars

 

in October 2001, the United States invaded Afghanistan

Since the beginning of 2003, the city is slowly developing with the help of foreign investment

 

The old part of Kabul is filled with bazaars nestled along its narrow, crooked streets
